Frequently Asked Questions

 Sweeping

1. What kind of properties do you sweep?

Our sweeping is focused on commercial and industrial properties. This includes parking garages, shopping centers, hospitals, churches, businesses and institutions. We will take on other types of projects if our customers need it.

2. Do you sweep streets?

Yes. We have a large sweeper truck that does particularly well on streets.

3. Do you do construction sweeping?

Yes. We actually do a lot of construction site sweeping. City ordinances mandate that streets must be kept clear of mud, sediment and debris during building construction. We can come in and clean up the street and/or site of all debris.

4. Can you sweep the inside of a warehouse?

Yes, if there is access to get a full size truck on the inside. Occasionally we use our trucks to sweep the inside of a warehouse. We do not have the smaller floor scrubbers designed to sweep finished surfaces on the inside of warehouses.

Striping

5. Do you prep the painted surface before striping?

Yes, we will pressure wash the pavement surface where the new lines will be placed. If we are re-striping, we will pressure wash the old lines to remove any dirt and chipping paint.

6. What kind of paint do you use?

We use high-end Sherwin Williams or Gorilla traffic quality paint. This paints last longer, holds its color and is more reflective than other paints. It is also designed for pedestrian traffic so it is not slippery when wet. Our paint will last longer than our competitors.

7. Can you create the layout on a new parking lot?

Yes, we do new layouts according to code dimensions.

8. Can you do specialty striping?

Yes, we can do all pavement markings including: handicap designations, cross walks, arrows, reserved parking, fire lanes, no parking zones and curb striping. We also do indoor striping such and inside warehouses and facilities. We utilize a Graco® battery powered striping machine that has no engine, so it produces no harmful emissions and no noise. The particular striper that we use was actually one of three machines used the stripe the US Bank stadium for Super Bowl LII in 2018.

Concrete & Asphalt

10. What kinds of concrete work do you do?

We do repair work only. This includes replacing sidewalk panels, potholes, cracks and curb repair. What sets SPS apart from our competitors is that we remove the concrete and stabilize the sub base. Then all repairs are done with rebar being drilled and epoxied into the existing slab to ensure the strength of the new pour. SPS uses 4,000 psi concrete, which is stronger than what most our competitors use. We put a sealer on top of the repair to keep the concrete from spalling (breaking off into fragments). We seal around the edges of the concrete repair patch with MP1 sealant to keep the water from getting in between the cracks. We also put barricades and tape around the concrete repair area to make sure it is not disturbed during the drying process. Once the concrete is set, we come back and power wash it to make sure it is clean. Since most parking lot failures are caused when water gets under the slab, when we remove and reinstall the sub base, we make sure water doesn’t get under the slab where we put in a repair patch… ensuring our work will last a long time. Many companies don’t address the sub base and just put rebar and concrete into the new pour without attaching it to the existing slab, making it very likely the concrete repair patch will fail again.

11. How about Asphalt repair?

In addition to concrete, SPS also provides asphalt repair. Both crack filling with high quality elastomeric filler and pothole repair. But instead of just filling in a pothole like many of our competitors do, for every asphalt repair job we come in and cut out the bad area and re-pour a new patch. Again, our attention to detail and making sure the job is done right and will last a long time is what ensures that property owners are happy with the character of our work. So the next time you need any kind of asphalt or concrete repair on your commercial property, contact Summit Power Sweeping, LLC. We will do the job right the first time, and you won’t have to worry about the inconvenience of doing this type of work again on your property for a very long time.
